To apply for a Berlin-Peck Library card, adults must present identification with a name and address, showing residency in Berlin, East Berlin or Kensington.
Children may apply for a card when they are entering Kindergarten and must have a parent's signature on their application form. Parents are responsible for any fines or lost or damaged items. In addition, parents are responsible for the selection and use of all Library materials chosen by their children, whether they are used in the Library or in their home. Children may request an adult library card when entering 7th grade.
A Library card issued at your hometown library can be used at any public library in Connecticut.
Three weeks: Books, pamphlets, audiocassettes, CDs, nonfiction videos.
One week: Feature films/children's videos (limit 5), encyclopedias, holiday picture books (limit 2, no reserves), CD-ROMs (limit 5), Fast-Track Books, DVDs, Videos and magazines.
Unless otherwise noted all items can be reserved or renewed: no item may be renewed more than once.
$ .15 per day per item for adult materials
$ .05 per day per item for children's materials
$1.00 per day per adult feature film/children's video
$1.00 per day per CD-ROM, DVD, and E-Book
$1.00 per CD, CD-ROM returned in outside book drop.
NOTE: Videos and Audio books may be returned to the book drop.
Varying fees are charged for lost or damaged items.
Borrowing privileges will be suspended when fines and fees are over $5.00.
Borrowers must pay the full cost of the item when materials are lost. The fees are non-refundable.
The Local History Room is staffed by the Local Historian on Wednesday Mornings from 10 - 12 and by appointment during the rest of the week. The Reference Staff can help patrons with most requests.
Materials can be requested from other Connecticut libraries ( at no charge ). Inquire at Adult Reference Desk or Children's Services Desk.
