Edward was the brother of Deacon Alfred North. BPLH Room Card Notes record that he was Town Clerk and Treasurer for 47 years and Superintendent of Sunday School for 20 years. He joined Berlin Congregational Church on 04 DEC 1831 at age eleven; later dismissed. He was "fitted for college" at Wothington Academy, Berlin; graduated from Hamilton Colege as Valedictorian in 1841 and was a professor at there. He resigned his Chair of Greek and Greek Literature in 1901 after 57 years. Edward died at age 83 years at his home on College Hill.
