Oldest son of James and Rhoda [Judd] North. One of three New Britain boys sent by his father to Stockbridge, MA to learn brass business from John Barton. Returned to New Britain and started manufacturing of sleigh bells, clasps, hooks and eyes. Imported wire from Europe which was drawn, cut and formed by hand - part of work done at home by women and girls with pliers.
