Daniel was the twin brother of David Steel who was also a doctor. Daniel was baptized at Kenisington Congregational [Christian Lane] Church. BPLH Room Card Notes record that he married Anna Fox of Berlin on 21 OCT 1792; Shepard [p.241] records that he married Anna Ford of Berlin at Middletown on 31 OCT 1792. Daniel died at age 67 years.
