Son of Thomas and brother of Deacon William. At an early age he moved with his family to Kensington. He graduated from Yale in 1859 and Andover Seminary and Yale Divinity School in 1861. He was Civil War veteran; commisioned Chaplain of 13th Regiment C.V.I. He was ordained on 24 JUN 1862. Henry was also principal of a school for boys in New Preston, CT.
