He and Ralph Wooding built Tower House in 1875 [326-40 Farmington Avenue, Kensington Apartments in 1986]. It almost certainly served as a water tower for the New York-New Haven Railroad. They were prominent Berlin industrialists born in Hamden. They made dog collars, harness trimmings and saddle hardware. They built a dam and pond in Kensington during later years of the 18th century and were granted a contract to supply water to railroad trains. It is probable the tower itself was added some years after the main portion of the building was completed.
