Baptized at Kensington Congregational Church. Married first wife, Lucy Beckley, in Kensington Congregational Church.. Married 2nd Mindwell Porter. BPLH Room card notes say he was a Berlin Postmaster. He was a cabinet maker by trade. BPLH Room card notes say that he made a coffin for Ezekial Hart for $2.50. BPLH card notes say he also made knives and forks. He bought the Berlin Hotel at Boston Corners from Benjamin Galpin in 1813 at 812/4 Worthington Ridge, Berlin and was hotel keeper until his death. The hotel was later known as the Whaples Hotel on Berlin Street. Jesse was the half brother of Emma Hart Willard. Jesse became insane and died at age 59.
