Carolyn lived in New Britain for 46 years. She lived in Kensington the last 29 years of her life, having resided on Brook Meadow Road. She was an educator in New Britain and other area schools for 45 years, beginning her career in Roxbury and Bristol. She was a music teacher at Northend School in New Britain and then taught science and geography for several years; she taught sixth grade while serving as assistant principal there. She was principal of Northend School from 1961 until her retirement in 1971. Carolyn was a 1925 graduate of New Britain High School. She graduated from New Britain Normal School in 1927; received bachelor's and master's degrees from Columbia University, and held a sixth year certificate from the University of Hartford. She served for 27 years on the supervisory committee of the New Britain Teacher' Federal Credit Union [later known as Valley Teachers' Federal Credit Union]. She was a charter member of the German Junior League; a life member of the Hartford County Retired Teacher's Association, the Association of Retired Teacher' of Connecticut, and the Salvation Army. She participated in New Britain Women's Club; the Auxiliary of the Hospital for Special Care; the New Britain General Hospital Auxiliary; the Boys and Girls Club of New Britain and the YWCA. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Britain. Her obituary says she died at New Britain General Hospital. She was survived by a nephew, Robert M. Labritz, Sr. of Hobe Sound, FL; a grandniece; two grandnephews; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Braunstein and Hilda Labritz.
