Polycrates died at age 78 at New Britain General Hospital. He lived on Cole Lane in Kensington. He had been employed as chief fiscal officer for the state Department of Health for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the Berlin Kiwanis Club where he served as club secretary for almost 20 years. He was survived by a son, Peter M. Davey and a daughter, Georgia Davey, both of Kensington; two brothers, Orestes Davey of New Britain and Dr. Lycurgus Davey of North Haven; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours were held at Carlson Funeral Home in New Britain. Funeral srvices were held at the funeral home and at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain. Memorial donations to St. George Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund or to the Dialysis Unit at New Britain General Hospital or to the Kiwanis Club of Berlin.
