Herbert died at age 85 years at Hartford Hospital. He had been a resident of Avery Heights. He was predeceased by his wife, Eunice, who died in 1994. Herbert had lived in Berlin for 43 years and resided in Meriden for four years prior to his move to Avery Heights in 1997. He was a 1922 graduate of New Britain High School. He was employed as a wood pattern maker at Johnson Pattern and Model Company in New Britain for 45 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and played basketball in the former City League. He was survived by two daughters, Jean Nelson and her husband, Douglas of Kensington and Shirley Hahn and her husband, Robert, of Windsor; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church and at West Lane Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Memorial donations to Trinity United Methodist Church. Carlson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
