Was clerk in Edward Wilcox's store and later for his successor, Samuel C. Wilcox until the 1850's when he purchased the business. In 1869 dealer in dry goods and groceries & provisions, crockery, hardware, boots, shoes barbed wire, poultry, and netting. Postmaster during 1840.
Married 1st Tamson Eliza Dowd of East Berlin; married 2nd Tamson's sister, Harriet A. Dowd; and 3rd Mrs. Eliza Sanford Booth.
