BPLH Room Card Notes record that he was not a robust child. He lived with maternal Uncle in Newport, Rhode Island for several years. He graduated from Yale in 1776. Licensed to preach on 30 SEP 1777. Card Notes also record that he married his 2nd cousin, Livia Hopkins. Benoni was ordained at Kensington Congregational Church on 26 APR 1779. Received Dr. of Divinity from Yale in 1817. Third Minister of Kensington Congregational Church. He was set apart to the work of the gospel ministry by the laying on of hands and appointed Pastor on 21 APR 1779. He lived at 67 Burham Road during 1779. He had Thomas [Storms] of Middletown, child of John [Storms] bound to him until age 18, "which shall be 3 JUN 1806 to learn trade of house wifery" [Thomas Black written on back of document]; indentured 8 AUG 1796. BPLH Room Card Notes record that Benoni died on 13 OCT 1826 at age 70 1/4 years. Hale Cemetery Records record death date as 13 NOV 1826 at age 76 years.
