He was a tinsmith in Berlin in 1839.
Tinsmiths of Conn., p. 165
North records that he was a great hunter and lover of dogs. She writes that on a Sunday, ca 1847, he and Peleg Chapman went to West Mountain in search of a fox. Chapman's dog was digging under a large rock where the fox had escaped to his den and when Chapman attempted to help the dog in his efforts Butler saw that the rock was falling. He called out "call off your dog, Tim, the rock is falling." But Chapman and the dog were crushed by the rock. North reports that it was Peleg's son, Lafayette, who was killed in the accident. Every able bodied man and boy walked to Kensington to help lift the rock.
Timothy Butler died at age 52.
