He was an early occupant of a house which still stands at 858-860 Worthington Ridge. The shop which was attached to the house where he had a tailoring business no longer exists. He was a tailor during 1817. The house was later sold to the Rev. Joseph Whittlesey, pastor of what is now the Berlin Congregational Church from 1838-1841. After resigning as pastor he conducted a school in his home.
Records refer to him as "Captain".
Cornwell and his wife, Anna, joined the Berlin Congregational Church between 178- and 1795. Died at age 85.
