Baptized at Kensington Congregational Church. He graduated from Yale in 1784 and became an Episcopal preacher. He was rector of St. John's Church, Waterbury, St. Mark's Church, New Britain, and subsequently St. Georges' Church, Hempstead, Long Island where he also had a private school. He was disabled by paralysis in 1829; his wife also.
