Was uncle of Emma Hart Willard. He graduated from Yale in 1762. Ordained pastor of the North Church, Windsor in 1766. He served on important Committees of the General Association with Timothy Pitkin and John Smalley and edited an edition of Watts Psalms and Hymns, published in Hartford in 1785. He removed to Hinsdale, MA where he was not pastor but influential in organizing a church and laying the foundation of the town which was named for him. |
